The House of Commons Transport Committee had very little positive to say about Smart Motorways and endless major concerns in their 40 page All Lanes Running report.
The report includes damning criticism of Highways England’s fudging of safety figures, failures to comply with legislation regarding removal of safety features, and the increased risks to road users, emergency personnel, and road side workers.

I predicted deaths in the Pistonheads forum back in 2012 when I heard about the ridiculous idea of driving on the hard shoulder. That is exactly what the all lane running motorways are.

What stupidity I thought when these people are ‘supposed’ to know about road safety when they do not have a clue!
A brand new Audi on the back of an AA pickup truck this year underlines the fact that the statement that breakdowns can be envisaged come from those with a very low intelligence .
