This is an insult and a get out!
Why can’t they explain why the lane was not closed until after Jason Mercer and Alex Murgeanu were killed? The police investigation relates to separate matters and the delay in Highway England closing the lane does not form part of it.
As such we intend to fight on all fronts to put an end to Smart Motorway, with the utmost urgency, before more people are killed.

- Freedom of Information Requests regarding number of deaths on Smart Motorways
- Calling for an independent risk assessment of the Smart Motorways
- Judicial Review of the government’s decision to implement Smart Motorways
- Suing Highways England for corporate manslaughter of the death of Jason given that Highways England knew the risks but failed to act to prevent his death
- Demanding an enquiry into how all 3 ‘fail safes’ failed – Radar detection (Midas not SVD), video surveillance and gantry warnings
