Controversial smart motorway plans will continue on the roads used by Berkshire drivers despite severe concerns over their safety.
Highways England has confirmed the latest details of a £27 billion plan to upgrade more stretches of motorway, which link to Berkshire towns.
More work will be carried out on the M25 and the M3.
Parts of both motorways have already been converted and this is the latest stage of the project.
The move comes despite warnings over the safety of the motorways, which will see their hard shoulders converted into “live lanes”.
The government incidents the changes are necessary to improve traffic flow but the Police Federation and MPS have branded them as “death traps”.
