Thank you for your reply to my contact concerning smart motorways especially as they are already/will be soon, here in [insert constituency]
I was very disheartened by your response and didn’t feel it suggested a personal understanding of the subject, in fact having compared notes with a national campaign group, it became obvious that a number of MP’s have just copied and pasted paragraphs from some kind of template on the matter.
None of which dealt with how you got a broken vehicle to move or how an illuminated gantry light could stop the 40 ton HGV, three seconds behind you, slamming into you at 56 mph.
It’s a shame that you didn’t think your constituents in [insert constituency here] worth researching the true impact of smart motorways.
I would however like to bring the following points to your attention.
- If you (or your loved ones) HAD to stop on a motorway, would you rather stop in a live running lane or a hard shoulder?
- How any of the copy/paste ‘actions’ allow emergency vehicles through.
