Woman to sue Highways England after husband dies on smart motorway near Meadowhall
A woman from Rotherham is suing Highways England after her husband was killed on a smart motorway near Meadowhall.
Jason Mercer and another driver pulled over on the M1 following a minor collision – but, with no hard shoulder, a lorry crashed in to them killing both men.
Highways England said there has been fewer collisions since smart motorways were introduced.
Claire’s now also calling for a judicial review into the all live-running lanes and says she won’t stop until they’re scrapped all together. She has been speaking to Adam Fowler.
