Louise Haigh MP: “We will meet with campaigners”
I’ve been trying to get a meeting with you for 2 years! I live 8 miles from your constituency and half of Jason Mercer family are constituents of yours.
LBC put some of my questions to the Transport Secretary.
But the replies were all flannel and no substance.
Will a review be independent or will we be letting National Highways investigate themselves?

The data released by government in the last few days shows a slight decrease in casualties on MOTORWAYS (not just smart motorways) The entire motorway network is lumped in together in the stats sighted.
It also ignores the fact that hundreds and hundreds of miles of the motorway network have been restricted and slowed down due to massive amounts of construction in that period.
Lastly, the statement from Louise Haigh that “Smart Motorways are safer than non-dynamic ones” compares the stats for one type of Smart Motorway (Dynamic) against the stats for 3 other types of motorways lumped in together, and which are a mix of smart and ‘non smart’ (ALR, controlled and conventional)
This shows a fundamental lack of understanding of our motorway network and how stats work!
