Our Petition Has been Rejected!

Our petition has been rejected! we want to use the main UK government petition website as this is direct to parliament, so we are going to appeal the rejection, but this means more delays. Please bear with us!

This petition was rejected because the Petition committee said it was too similar to an existing petition. The existing one related to speed limits! We did go through an extended appeal procedure, but then ALL petitions were just cancelled and void when the election happened.

We have now realised that a petition is a waste of time and have written more about this here.

  1. The problem is Highways England is run by the same sort of crackpots that run the country but that does’nt help the individuals and families of those already affected by this ludicrous idea. The word SMART has become something of a misnomer these days especially when it comes to meters and motorways. My own personal method of avoiding a tragedy is not to EVER EVER drive in what was the hard shoulder lane. That way I wont kill some poor soul up ahead. “You should freewheel to the next emergency laybye”. What utter crap”””

  2. I took an Advanced Driving Test many years ago, run by Police Driving Instructors . I have written to my M.P many times, but NEVER had any reply, so, in effect, do not have one!
I have always thought them bad and will never use what as the hard shoulder.

    1. Its interesting that you never got a reply, who is your MP please? normally they love jumping on a band wagon when it starts ‘trending’

  4. I email Jim O’Sullivan (CEO Highways) weekly … to tell him just much his beloved Smart Motorway doesn’t work … only Smart thing about them is how fast they can collect money which doesn’t go to make the ALR Motorways any safer …. MIDAS what an apt name don’t you think !!!

    1. good on you, collectively we are going to nag, harrass and fight in the courts till they give us the hard shoulder back

  5. Please remove the coloured picture background it makes the comments unreadable and impedes communication on this important topic!

I’m afraid I’m new to running a website and I’ve been trying to change the colour of the text for weeks and I’ve been so busy with the campaign the website slipped down the priority list. It never even occurred to me to change the colour of the background! Thank you

  6. Hi, I’ve just seen your case on the television this evening and totally agree the hard shoulders are extremely important and should be re-instated ASAP! Please let me know if there is a petition I can sign?

      Thank you for your comment.
I don’t wish to appear rude but we gave up on petitions a long time ago. They achieve nothing I’m afraid. It’s just a list of angry people.
The only ones that promise anything are the parliament ones and all they promise is to get the subject discussed in parliament, this subject has been discussed in Parliament literally hundreds of times, they never conclude anything they just go onto the next subject they are obliged (not interested in) to discuss.
Petitions aren’t the tool they used to be, and our efforts are best served elsewhere.
The legal action we are talking is much more powerful,
      Thanks again
