This morning was the final session of evidence hearing

In the (latest) Parliamentary Transport Select Committee review into smart motorways. It was mainly H.E and minsters today. I had to stop listening. It was full of flannel, waffle, ass covering and outright lies.
The ‘Roads Minster’ may as well have “sponsored by Highways England” stamped across forehead. This is a GOVERNMENT minster (you know the government who’s first duty is to protect the citizens?)
Nick Harris (Chair of H.E) even had the shame face to state to the committee “we have 100% cctv coverage of these roads” Luckily the committee were aware of the truth of this situation and said “but the cameras aren’t monitored”
Harris replied “no, but we have 100% coverage.
So he was boasting about a safety system that isn’t used!!!
Oh and smart motorways are 3 times safer than ‘normal roads’ not 3 times safer than non smart motorways, that is one piece of flannel they’ve been forced to stop selling.
I sincerely hope the PTSC saw through the extremely biased, business based opinions from people with seemingly very blinkered, vested interests in continuing to force s.m on the public, with absolutely not a thought between them on ‘protecting the citizens’
