National Highways are sending out standard responses to public concerns.

SMK have added some notes (aka Facts) to this version. Other versions mention not opening anymore s.m with out the tech! anyone here have to use the section near Maidenhead that opened over 3 weeks ago with no tech and still has no tech.

  1. I am afraid that I will no longer travel on a so called “ Smart Motorway” after dark because it is too dangerous. As far as I am aware the original concept has not been actioned correctly in that technology is not in line with original plans and “ safety zones” have not been constructed in line with the original “ distances apart.” Ones life is a lottery when driving on a racing track between concrete barriers ! I recently drove back from the Midlands along the M 6 and the inside Lane was coned off and guess what so was the so called “ Safety zone”. The whole concept and its introduction is “ Not Fit For Purpose” . I am returning to safer “ A roads” in order to stay alive. Derek.
